A Question for Crusaders...

Guys, with NaNo-November still ongoing and busy-December coming up, I'm planning to call an end to my Crusade fairly soon (don't worry, I'll be calling the Second Crusade early next year for anyone who wants to join!).

So, my question is, do you want another Crusader Challenge before we call it a wrap, or shall I save it up for the next Crusade???

***Check out my comment below for more information on the plan.

Oooh, too hard! That's like asking "Do you want to be lazy or do you want some more homework?"

I'm gonna let someone else less lazy answer this one...

I think most of us Crusaders are already following everyone else. From now through the end of Dec., it's frantically busy. I'd go ahead and hold off until next year unless the challenge is something easy and fast to do. Just my humble opinion. It's been a great way to get us all to know each other - I look forward to more members in 2011!

Although it's been great reading everyone's work, it might be a good idea to hold off until the New Year. Everyone gets crazy busy right about now, so it might just be best to give everyone a rest (particularly those NaNo-ers!) I might be in the minority on this one, but that's just my opinion anyway.

Yes, I think I agree with Julie. Hugs...

Yeah, Dec is a busy month.... But looking forward to next year's challenges!

I think leaving it to 2011 is the best idea, too.

Agreed. Save for next time. : ) It's been fun, but man, has life gotten busy! I heart the Crusade!

Can I ask my fellow Crusaders to vote for my story on storybird.com this weekend? It is "Like A Barrel of Monkeys" by rosencrantz (my pen name on there).

I have a really busy NOV and DEC so if you want to hold off, that'll be great. I will sign up for the next one.

What do you mean by your "calling an end to the crusade"? Are you ending the Writing Crusade and then starting some different crusade next year that everyone will sign up for? I just wanna make sure I understand.

I think you should probably just wait on the challenge until next year since it's a pretty busy time of year for just about everyone.

Well, since I almost missed this post by it slipping off my reader before I had a chance to get to it... I guess I must (reluctantly) vote to wait until the new year as well. And now I'm going to go write a Spanish essay. :/

Poor Joanna, you're not doing Nano are you?

I'm all for waiting until the new year for a new challenge. But I do love this Crusade :)

I'll sign up for the next one at the beginning... I sadly missed most of this one! Have a great holiday season (I'll check in throughout, though!)

I thought this Crusade was always ongoing!!! I still have people to follow, I believe! That said, I vote to wait on a challenge...I can't keep up with blogging (and as you know, The Voice) as it is! Thanks for starting the Crusade. Let us know what happens with the second round...adding to this one? Or starting something completely different?? I hope we all still try to read each other's blogs from time to time and of course, COMMENT! I think comments are more important than follows, so we'll try to keep up @erica and christy if you all do, too! I've taken a bit of a break this past week, but will be back at it! Thanks, Megan for letting us know to vote! We'll definitely do that! christy

Hey guys, thanks so much for your comments :)

Okey doke, will save the challenges for the next Crusade.

So, I'm officially calling an end to this particular Crusade (the Inaugural Writers' Platform-Building Crusade). I'll call a new one early next year (the Second Writers' Platform-Building Crusade). It'll be pretty much in the same format as this last one, with a few tweaks to improve things as necessary. As a long-term thing, I'm planning to hold possibly two (or more depending on interest) Crusades a year, with all original/past Crusaders very welcome to sign up for new ones. I think that will work best because there are some people who no longer want to participate (either too busy, or they have what they needed out of the Crusade, etc). By starting a new one, we can get everyone who wants to join in on the ground floor again, give new peeps a chance to get in on the fun from the start, plus get to know a whole new bunch of cool people and generate more publicity for ourselves as well.

I'll be leaving our current List of Crusaders up until the new Crusade starts, but will just pop a note on my page saying that entries are closed for this one, and to keep an eye out next year. Then I'll start a new list of Crusaders for the next Crusade (I might keep an alumni list or something too).

I'm planning to break Crusaders into some sort of sub-groups from next Crusade, so it's not too onerous to support everyone, then you can concentrate on supporting / getting to know those in your own subgroup OR all Crusaders, depending on time commitments etc.

And hopefully you'll keep on supporting everyone even though the Crusade is now over :) I've made so many new friends through this Crusade, and I definitely hope we can stay in touch :)

Anyway, that's the plan at present. You all so rock, can't wait for the Second Crusade!!!

Oh, I'm intrigued by your crusade! But I'm so swamped I think if I obligated myself to anything more I'd likely just up and quit my own life. But I'll keep an eye on you guys!

Oh, I'm kinda sad! I was thinking we were all going to be a life-long band of Crusaders till the end of time. I feel like I only just got started getting to know everyone and see everyone's writings.

But, at the same time, probably good to have things keep evolving, thus avoiding stagnation, and increasing fluidity and publicity. A wise move, for sure.

Hope everyone still keeps in touch! It's been really fun.

@PK, would love to have you on board next year :)

@Carolina, thanks, hope life settles down for you :)

@Josh, there's a little tear in my eye as well, it's been so great getting to know everyone. I really hope you all join in the next Crusade so we can keep up the fun. But...I'm not planning to lose touch with all you great peeps just cause the First Crusade is over :)
