It sets out the journey we writers go through, from asking ourselves whether our manuscript is finished, to deciding when we're ready to query, to the search for an agent, to going on submission to publishing houses. Follow through the questions, and hold your breath if you answer "No" to any of them, 'cause you might be sent back to get some more feedback, to get over yourself and go read, to revise again, or to write a new book!
Kate has kindly let me post the first part of the flowchart on Rach Writes..., so have a squiz, then click over to Kate's post and check out the whole thing.
How about you: Where are you at in your writing journey? Are you winging it, or have you set out to learn as much about the craft of writing as you can before you query?

All right, that flow chart is awesome.
Great first post!

Hi Rach, it must be useful, but looking at it makes me feel tired.
My writing? For some strange reason I coaxed myself into joining the A-Z blogathon. Now I'm forced to write everyday!
I love it! Thanks for sharing. :) Now off to Kate's site to see the rest.
This is a really useful flowchart. I think I shall print it out and stick it up near my writing desk :)

Love the chart, great A2Z! will look forward to more!!
I love this idea. I'm slightly stalled at the moment and so I'm doing reading research in the meantime :O)
Not Querying yet - have to make something worth publishing first :) So I'm still learning the craft. I will be joining the band wagon pretty soon.
I've seen this one before :-)
It's great isn't it. I LOVE flow charts (especially flow chart humor)
I had a great one called "the problem solving flow chart"
My favorite bit was:
"you poor bastard"
--> "Can you blame someone else"
----> NO PROBLEM!

A wonderful start to the challenge, I have already had one book published and when I have the time hope to have my second one printed.
I enjoyed your post very much.
Good luck with the challenge.....will be back.
Yvonne.
What's a flow chart? LOL. Onward with the Challenge!
I'm working on my seventh book right now.
That is a fabulous flowchart! I especially like the "Get over yourself and go read" bit ;-)
(Hmm.. seeing as it's now the 1st of April I should probably figure out what to post for A!)
Hi Rachael, Nice to meet you~ I love this flow chart; a lot of truth in the humorous quips. I look forward to more informative posts. Me, I am reading right now, processing which type of book I would like to write. I have only 5 ideas; I'm working on narrowing the focus ;-D !
This really is awesome. I love a good chart. Thank you.
That's awesome Rach. I love the 'get over yourself & go read.'
Ohh pretty visuals. I love charts. I'm about to be buffin glike crazy to make it shiny.
Thanks so much, Rach! :)
That is exactly what I have been looking for. Thanks for sharing this! I can't wait to see what other great tips you have!
Stopping by from the Challenge!

That is a great flow chart. It's even pretty and color coated lol!
How did I get to the wrong chart already!?
It's a really great way to look at it.
A very impressing flow chart. I am afraid maps do my head in. Can't make head nor tail of them. But there might be hope for a flow chart.
Very funny! I'm a tech writer. Why didn't I think of that? Right now I'm editing my 500-page mainstream novel. The first 100 pages was OK. The second 100 pages is requiring some slash and burn. I just wish my life was less chaotic so I could focus all my energy on my book.
Rachael, I feel like I'm still all over the chart, working on various projects, querying and learning my craft.
Did you say where you are? If so, I must have missed it :)
Happy April Fools Day!
Nice flow chart! I'm at the point where I need to end my dang novel and cannot think of a way to do it!
Came over for A to Z. Love your chart!
Love the chart. Looking forward to more writing tips!
I saw this when Kate Hart originally posted it. LOVE it!
Also, that's great that you're using the A-Z challenge to share writing tips. Looking forward to them! :)
I like the line that says your first draft is perfect. Sob. Wish it were true.
I winged my first novel which I wrote in three months and I LEARNED so much editing said novel for eighteen months. Hmmmm. Maybe I should have waited... lol
Ha ha funny :)
I especially like the "get over yourself comment."
Great start! I'm looking forward to reading what you have in store for the rest of the month! :-)
Great chart. This is definitely something I needed.
what a great chart!
Cool chart. I particularly like the tip where it says to get over yourself. I'm at various stages with different projects, but mostly the part where the stuff needs another edit. :)
Love the chart! Thanks for sharing it. :)
In my writing journey: I'm published, but I still get feedback, still take every opportunity to learn more about the art/craft/business. So glad to meet you!

Thanks for the recommendation. I went ahead and followed Kate's Blog as it looks like it has much to offer.
Nice start for the Challenge.
Contrary to my usual practice of subscribing to comments, to save time during challenge I will not be doing so during April. If you want to respond to my comment , please email me directly from your email notification for the comment.
Thanks.
