Random Factoids About...Random Stuff

A little light entertainment:

• The longest (common) word that can be typed on the top row of a typewriter is ‘typewriter’.

•  Barbie's full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts.

•  The plastic things on the end of shoelaces are called aglets.

• St Johns Wood is the only Underground station to share no letters with the word ‘mackerel’.

• Donkeys kill more people each year than plane crashes.

• Hull City is the only football league team whose name you can’t colour in with a biro.

• It is possible to lead a cow upstairs, but not downstairs.

• The name of every continent ends with the same letter with which it begins.

• All American presidents have worn glasses, although not all have done so in public.

• The theme tune to Some Mothers Do Ave Em is Some Mothers Do Ave Em in Morse Code.

Love it! I knew the aglet one but only because my children stumped me with it in hangman.

Too funny! I never would have thought that Barbie's middle name is Millicent :)

I have no clue why, but I already knew the cow one.

Ooh now the one about deathly donkeys there must be a story in there somewhere and I'm sure some clever bod could produce a great thriller with the one about typewriter LOL! Geat stuff. My hubby appeared briefly in Some Mothers Do Ave Em :O)

Donkeys? Seriously?

I did stay with a married couple called Ken and Barbara in the USA when I was competing once. Barbara's nickname was Barbie.

Okay, that was way fun.

Never would have suspected the donkey one.

What's a biro?

The theme tune to Some Mothers Do Ave Em is Some Mothers Do Ave Em in Morse Code.

I don't get this one at all ... maybe I need more coffee?

The rest though -- very cool (though I do wonder who took the time to figure them out!).

My daughter watches Phineas and Ferb- they sang a song about the aglet.

Cool factoids! I especially love the one about the donkeys.

But the one about continent names ending with the same letter they start with isn't true! "North America" and "South America" don't begin and end with the same letter at all.
