Queensland Flood Crisis

I've been having internet connection problems lately as a result of my move, so I haven't been able to blog much. But I just wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to the people of Queensland during this terrible time. My whole family lives in Brisbane, and I lived there myself for 10 years; I've visited, worked at, or lived in many of the areas that are now flooded or under threat. I also know some bloggers who live in or around the area, and I'm praying they're all right. I'm so devastated to hear about the many dead and missing, with much worse yet to come. It's scary to think that such destruction can happen...

It's scary how the weather's been lately. I'm on the Gold Coast, so not as bad as Queensland. My thoughts are with everyone who's been affected.

Amen.

What touched me was hearing this morning that a 13-yr-old boy got swept away to his death for telling the people or the SES that were helping them to go help his younger brother first. I mean honestly that's heartfelt.

Hi Rach! I posted my story yesterday. It is pretty scary here watching the river rise (we are in a high-rise beside the river.) I hope your rellies are all okay Rach.

There are going to be so many heart-wrenching stories at the end of this disaster, like that of the 13-year-old boy.

I'm going ahead with my Publication Party. Hope you can come. I'm posting in a few minutes..:)

Hi, Rach,

I hope your family and friends are all right. What a terrible thing to happen.

I lived in Florida for many years and several devastating hurricanes blew through destroying homes, families and even death. I know how tragic it can be.

Prayers are their only hope...

Michael

Hi Rach, it's so sad that many lost their lives and thousands more lost their homes or have been evacuated.

We know of Denise and a few others quite near the disaster area. We pray and hope that they and your friends and relatives there are safe.

So sad. Will be keeping prayers sent that way.

I really hope all your friends and family is safe and dry. I have a blogger buddy (Al) whose daughters are stranded there and as a parent I would be so frantic.

I'm so sorry Rachel to hear about what's going on in Brisbane. I will keep you, your family and friends in my prayers.

It's horrible stuff. I've just managed to track down the last of my friends yesterday, so I have that relief. It's grim and exhausting, and I'm one of the ones lucky enough to actually be able to go to work and do something to help the victims, rather than just having to watch helplessly. It's just so hard to comprehend.
