Some bad news - cancelling the Campaign :(

Guys, I'm so sorry to disappoint, but we've had to cancel the Campaign :( Cally explains the reason here, so pop over if you want to have a read. Hopefully I'll be able to do another one sometime soon.

How about you: Do you sometimes face difficulty balancing family life and writing and/or blogging and networking? I know I do (one of the reasons for my blogging silence lately). What is your best tip for walking this tightrope?

Hugs,

Family ALWAYS comes first. I haven't written in several months, although I think about it constantly, b/c of family and home issues. But I know the problems will end and I can get back to my story and blogs. Family FIRST.

I'm with Rebecca - the family always comes first. For a start, how can you put your mind to writing if everything in your aches to be with the family? If they need you, they need you - time will pass and you really will get your life back.

Every single day. And I'm with Jo and Rebecca, family comes first. I'll go for months without a blog post and I miss it, but even Stephen King says that someone has to get that kid to his soccer game. What does help is reading as much as possible and jotting down story or blog notes whenever and wherever so that when the time comes to write we aren't banging our heads on our key boards because we forgot that great thought.

Having to cancel the campaign is understandable.

Actually, this is the month I originally would have been releasing the second work in my Shadow Jumpers series, but me and my kiddo were reaching some important crossroads.

She comes first, but I'm still passionate about my writing, so I've tried to be more open to her ideas and suggestions, communicating with her the times I'll be really stuck in my editing/writing/revising cave and I pushed back my novella release by two months.

Balancing it all is a daily deal. Trial and error and repeat the things that work out well :-)

It's sad that you guys had to cancel the campaign, but I completely understand Cally's reason. And since this campaign would have been very close to the release of a third book for me, I'm also quite relieved!

Aloha Rachael,

I'll always be forever grateful to you - and the Campaigns because #3 and #4 (where I helped judge!!!) were amazing experiences:)

Wishing Cally and her family only the best and when the Campaign is one day ready, I'll be there :)

That sucks :( Family does come first, though, no doubt about it.

Aww, that's too bad! Completely understandable of course. Maybe in the spring?

No worries! This is part of life and we need to focus all our energies on more important issues like family...

Take care, Rach...

Hey Rach! Gosh I think it's been two years since I dropped by. I got to thinking about the challenge (3rd?) when I was commenting over on Anne R. Allen's blog today. She featured Alex and the IWSG, and I remembered your campaign challenge is how I met Alex and got involved with the IWSG. Just thinking about you and thought I'd drop by to say hello! I also visited Cally's blog to check on the next campaign. Oh boy, do I remember those days of what she's going through! Hope all is well with you. :)
